Two magnificent dragons (long, 龙) wind their way around this elegant planter, surrounded by swirling clouds and stylised flames. Beautifully hand-painted in timeless blue and white porcelain, the dynamic composition celebrates one of the most enduring and iconic motifs in Chinese decorative art.

For centuries, the dragon has symbolised strength, wisdom and good fortune in Chinese culture, appearing throughout imperial art and architecture as an emblem of power and prosperity. Completing the design on the front of the planter, the traditional inscription 大清康熙年制 (Da Qing Kangxi Nian Zhi), meaning “Made during the Kangxi reign of the Great Qing”, pays tribute to one of the most celebrated periods in Chinese porcelain production.
